ADVANCED CATEGORY

This category covers all aspects of the craft. Entrants are called upon to display their myriad of skills and techniques to bring their creations from paper to life. We expect entrants to uphold the highest standards to the best of their abilities and at the same time, push their limits, exploring uncharted frontiers and forge new skills. 

Judging encompasses all aspects of the craft. Do be reminded that foundation is as important as the advanced skills/techniques. Therefore, expect a high level of scrutiny from the panel of judges. 

  • All mecha/robot model kits from official brands/manufacturers.Strictly no knock-offs, full resins or 3D printed  products of similar nature. 

  • All scales.

  • Dimensions: 45cm [L] X 45cm [D] X 50cm [H]

  • Judging will be based on all aspects of the craft.

FAQs

Foreword: While we try our best to make the rules as explicit as we can, this is an almost impossible task. What we are doing here is to make some exceptions and parameters to adhere so to make the category enjoyable.   • Do I need to remove seam lines and nub marks? 

    • Yes, you should attempt to remove all visible seam lines (including those on weapons) as well as nub marks as much as possible.

  • Can I change the original colour scheme? 

    •  Yes, we encourage alternate colour schemes.  

  • Can I add additional decals?

    •  Yes, similar to colour schemes, you can use after market, customized decals/stickers. 

  • Can I add weathering and battle damages?

    • Yes, both are allowed in the Advance category. 

  • Can I add LEDs? 

    • Yes, but do consider the safety aspect of your battery setup. 

  • Can I add metal parts, pla-strips or plates and/or photo-etched parts?

    •  Yes, you can. 

  • Is the base/diorama required? 

    • Yes, a base to secure the kit is highly recommended. It also adds to the entire presentation of the entry. 

  • Bootleg products allowed? 

    • No, all bootlegs, knock-off kits are strictly prohibited. Contestants will be disqualified without notice. 

  • Can I use conversion kits? 

    • No, full conversion kits are not allowed. Contestants will be disqualified without notice. We encourage contestants to make their own creations.​

  • How about weapons and accessories add on? 

    • ​Yes, weapon add ons and accessories from any brands are allowed.

  • Can I use small detailing parts that are 3D printed? 

    • Yes, but only small detailing parts. Similar to Kotobukiya option parts, these are allowed as long as they are not full conversion parts.
